Hello Friends of Container Gardening!
I hope this post finds you all enjoying cool nights, sun-warmed days, and the tinges of color on the leaves. Even though we are well into fall at this point, the rain has delayed lots of planting and blog posting!
Thank goodness for a beautiful week...we have been playing catch up so that everyone can begin to enjoy the wonderful plants that grace our fall and winter.
While perennial beds and ferns are going dormant, and the trees are loosing their leaves, Container Gardening of Atlanta is on the town to make sure that your pots keep color and vibrancy to brighten the cold winter days that lie ahead.

Courtyard Makeover!

This precious courtyard was a blank slate when we first set foot in it. It is hard to believe from these pictures, but it's true!! Anne Bolling drew a landscape and planting plan for this couple, which gave them the whimsical, relaxed feel that they were looking for. With Compacta Hollies scattered for consistency, it was easy to fill in with interest plants such as a Weeping Japanese Maple, Spirea, Camellias, Butterfly Bushes, Miscanthus Grass, Cherry Trees and much more. This installation gave the couple some much needed instant shade along with lots of interesting, colorful plants. What a joy to have this project from start to finish!!

A great way to add color to a shady patio is through containers themselves. This blue-glazed "Strawberry Pot" brightens up a shady corner and draws the eye to the overflowing plants.

This planter box (provided by CGOA) is packed full of luscious, shade-loving plants...ferns, caladiums, and begonias. Who said the shade has to be boring??

This window box is a perfect example of how container gardening can bring you function along with aesthetics. This client loves to cook, so what better than a petite herb garden (with a rosemary topiary, basil, parsley, sage, thyme, dill and lavender) to supplement his culinary creations!!
